Alexa, The Ladybug Queen :-)

Alexa's story is told by her mother.

This is my story… I'm a 6 year old girl with a heart bigger than Texas. I have a little sister, Angie, she is 3 years old. My mama and dadda who I love so much! Since I was born, I was faced with many challenges. I was born with a heart murmur and was not allowed to see my mama for 24 hours... that was a lot of time especially because I was hungry!! Thank God they fed me milk in a bottle. As soon as my heart murmur cleared I was able to see mama. The next day another shock for mama!!! The doctors had found that my hip bones were not connected to my bone socket and I was born with Hip Dysplasia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_dysplasia_(human)). My journey had just begun!!
I don't remember wearing a hardness, but mama does and I know it was painful to see me in that ugly hardness that did not allow me to move my legs. Thanks to Jesus, my God, I was healed and was never seen in hardness again. Of course, that only happened through endless nights of mama and daddy praying. For some reason when I was growing up I did not understand how to "pretend" play. I would line up every single toy I had because that was fun for me. The only one that fully understood me was mama because I think she tried the hardest to be a step ahead of me, but sometimes when she did not understand, I knew she would guess. Maybe she knew because she's my mama and knew exactly what I always needed. I love mama!! My mama and daddy took me to the doctor because they thought I was not "normal"... I don't see anything wrong with me?!

The doctor told mama that I was 1 year delayed in my development and the professionals labeled me Autistic. I don't know what that word means. I've started school since I was 3 years old and had speech therapy. I'm a happy little girl because my parents love me so much and they do not see the "Autistic" in me, they only see Alexa. I know how to talk, but sometimes they do not understand because they are adults and think different! I love people and people love me, but I easily get bored and distracted, so I usually go my way. I'm the queen of ladybugs!! I spent all my spring days at school catching ladybugs!! One thing is true is that I never give up... my parents taught me that and I listen to my parents because they love me and I love them with all my heart!!!
